Diary of a Cakemaker #14

26th Jul 2023

Dare I say this week was fairly calm? Obviously, I mean calm in the sense of pretty busy’ as opposed to ‘manically busy’  Tuesday was crazy busy but then Wednesday was fairly relaxed, so we have had a nice balance.

On Thursday we had another group from Harbour Energy for a corporate team building event, the whole company will soon be cupcake baking experts! We also had another company in for staff team building. In my head, I thought they were coming in the evening, so I was all set for that, had it all planned. At about 11am I realised they were actually booked in for 1.30pm! Goodness me!

It all went so well though — they thoroughly enjoyed it and left us some lovely reviews afterwards — so it was all good! . After the session with them, I was totally shattered – no use to anyone at work Lol!. I think it was mostly from the disruption in my well planned day I had to dash home for a wee snooze before heading back into work.

We had a fair few corporate orders this week, as well as two weddings. One of the cakes was delivered to a house in Peterculter, the other was at the beautiful Maryculter House Hotel. We had to make a blue sea holly flower for one of the cakes - Never heard of it prior to then.

I went to my usual networking group on Tuesday, BNI Aberdeen North, and then also to a Business Women Connect (BWC Aberdeen) meeting on Wednesday; it was good to see faces I already knew and to make some new contacts … luckily I do like chatting to people, so networking is fun and not a chore – well, most of the time Lol!.

I had to see the physio this week. As I’ve said before, I had been told not to play tennis because of my hand/wrist injury. NO TENNIS!!! ?. When they first said no tennis, I seriously thought I might die! So, I decided to go running instead, and do you know what? It hasn’t been half as bad as I thought. I ran everyday Monday to Thursday, with a bit of weight training at home.

Come Friday ... I cheated! ? I went and played tennis! I had to take some Ibuprofen though, as it was soooo sore! I was honest with the physio, I told them I have three more league matches that I absolutely must play, then after that I promise 100% to rest my hand. Honest!

The weekend was really chilled, we spent some time hanging out with my sister and her family which was great. Nice and relaxing, which is just as well, as next week is looking to be busy too. We’ve also got 3 weddings and a hen party
